Sawmill

FWS's Taupo sawmill was commissioned in 1966.  FWS is the largest pruned log sawmill in New Zealand with a log diet of 400,000 ton per annum. Our log supply is 100% radiata pruned butt, providing feedstock for our mouldings and clear boards plants as well as providing M&B lumber directly to the North American market.  Our sawmill specializes in value and grade recovery rather than simple throughput, guaranteeing the highest quality clear grade lumber products to our customers. Recent upgrades to our facilitiy include primary breakdown and trimmer optimisation and the installation of a binsorter.  Our grade sawmill operates 24 hours/day, 7 days/week and currently employs 120 people.

We also run 9 kilns all fired using Geothermal heat.  Other secondary operations include  finger jointing, defecting , surfacing and Paint line capacity.   These operations currently employ 80 people.
