Mouldings Plant
Commissioned in 1997, our Fletcher Mouldings plant is located in Taupo, the heart of New Zealand’s North Island. FWS's mouldings plant employs approximately 100 people and is one of the largest exporters of SLMs to the US.
This FSC-certified facility comprises both ripping and moulding operations. The main focus of the ripline is to convert random width M&B lumber into rips by width and length as dictated by the current order file. A small volume of shook is produced by this operation as a byproduct which is either sold on the domestic market or consumed on site into LIFESPANTM product.
Moulding lines 1 and 2 are stand alone entities consisting of a Ferrari twin Bandsaw, Weinig H22B high speed planer, on line barcoder, and a grading/bundling/packet build operation. These moulders focus fully on producing commodity Solid Lineal Mouldings (SLMs) and contract processing work (blanking and LIFESPANTM product).
The moulder 3 operation was designed primarily to produce “small” mouldings. It is of similar layout to moulders 1 & 2 with bandsaw, moulder, barcoder, grading/bundling work centres in a continuous operating process. Due to the intricacies of running small mouldings the handling equipment between each operation has been modified to cope with “small” mouldings manufacture.
All finished SLM product is packaged within the plant and dispatched in 40 foot High Cube containers. As these containers are loaded and sealed on site, high quality standards are essential through all steps of the process.
